My first explorations into camera and video work was in a clunky VHS driven world of huge cameras and online linear editing at Oakwood theme park, making videos on their Vertigo skycoaster. After a 3 year diversion – mainly working on superyachts for the super-rich I returned to the real world (ish) to study for a Degree in Visual Performance at Dartington College of Arts. During this time I got into digital video and nonlinear editing and was able to be truly experimental with my work.
On leaving Dartington I moved to Cardiff and started the video production company Widelode Ltd with some friends. Widelode offered services ranging from print design to DVD production via live event services. After a very exciting and fun 7 years of varied work for clients such as the BBC, ITV Wales, Coco Cola, MTV Networks Europe, Welsh National Opera and National Theatre of Wales we finally closed the doors on Widelode in January of 2010.
I wanted to concentrate solely on my specialities so I am now a Cardiff based freelance film maker – with the freedom of self employment comes even greater scope for creativity.
